I am developing theoretical models of various kinds of complex systems, including genetic regulatory networks, cell differentiation, growing protocells. I am also actively involved in developing methods to identify relevant subsets of variables in dynamical systems.See the section on My research interests for further information about these research directions: the past achievements, the ongoing work and the future perspectives.

After more than 20 years of research in large industrial companies, like Eni and Montedison, I am currently full professor of complex systems at the Department of Physics, Informatics and Mathematics of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. See my CV for more information about my past and present activities and roles, and about my awards.
